Once the broader sporting community, and more importantly the major manufacturers, finally get their heads around the idea that all these various, distinct sectors—commuter road cars, massive cargo boats, commercial planes, and elite racing cars—require completely specific, unique solutions for their correct propulsion, the toxic, restrictive connection between the automotive industry and Formula 1 can finally be properly severed. It will be very much akin to the historical severing of the link between general human transport and professional horse racing in the distant past. The automotive industry and Formula 1 absolutely share a deep, rich ancestry, but they are two completely different entities now.
