“I Took My Life Back”: Fern Britton, 68, Stuns in Elegant Black Gown After Losing Five Stone Through a Complete Lifestyle Overhaul
Fern Britton turned heads at The Broadcast Awards in London as she confidently stepped out in an elegant black, boat-neck gown, proudly showcasing the results of a dramatic five-stone weight loss.
The 68-year-old presenter looked radiant and relaxed as she smiled for cameras before hopping into a taxi, completing her polished look with a diamond-studded clutch and delicate pearl earrings. The figure-hugging gown highlighted a transformation that has been years in the making.

Fern has long been candid about her struggles with weight, revealing she has fluctuated between a size 22 and a size 12 over the years. But after stepping away from her decades-long role on This Morning and embracing a slower life in Cornwall, she decided it was time for a complete health overhaul.
Addressing speculation around her weight loss, Fern has been firm that her transformation was achieved naturally. She previously said people often question whether surgery or weight-loss injections are involved, but insisted she could confidently say she lost the weight without medical shortcuts.
A turning point came after shoulder surgery a few years ago, which forced her to reflect on her lifestyle. She admitted she told herself she needed to stop smoking, stop drinking, get her eating under control and stop lying in bed feeling sorry for herself.

Her determination was also shaped by a terrifying brush with death. In 2016, Fern nearly died after developing life-threatening sepsis following a hysterectomy. Reflecting on that experience, she said that despite everything her body had been through, she discovered she could still rebuild strength and feel powerful again.
Fern began the NHS Couch to 5K programme and surprised even herself with her progress. Last year, she proudly shared that she managed to run 6.5 kilometres, describing the achievement as “a bit good” after completing 40 minutes of continuous running.
Alongside running, she has embraced cycling, weight training and long walks, even heading to Italy for a cycling holiday with friends. She has also made major changes to her diet, cutting around 80 per cent of her sugar intake and focusing on three sensible meals a day to properly fuel her body.
Now, as she steps confidently onto red carpets once again, Fern’s transformation is being celebrated not just for the physical change, but for the resilience and self-belief behind it.
