Lulu, 77, makes morbid death admission ‘I wonder how long I’ve got left’

Lulu has admitted she is wondering “how long” she has left. The Shout! singer, 77, has been open and honest about her struggles in recent years that led her to quitting alcohol but has become more aware of her own “mortality” than ever.

The rock n roll legend, who is keeping busy by preparing for a up for a one-night only concert at the Royal Albert Hall in June where she will be joined by fellow stars like Gary Barlow and Boy George, wants to remind young people out there that there is help and support available for them.

She said: “The fact that I was a drinker and I kept it secret, it’s like living a lie. I just want to say if there’s anyone out there who feels that they have an issue with alcohol, or they’re suffering with anxiety, this is really what Lulu’s Mental Health Trust does. We will choose, it’s a gifting situation, where we get together, and research who we’re going to give the money to.

“Last year, it was Young Mind. Anyone who is struggling – what I didn’t know when I was younger, there is help. You don’t have to feel alone. You’d be surprised to know the number of people struggling

Asked for her advice for anyone struggling, the Absolutely Fabulous star said: “Go to meeting. Go to an AA meeting. I would say that, absolutely. It’s been proven that it’s the only way to really help and support alcoholics, addicts.

“You can be a spender, you can be a gambler, you can have food issues, drug issues, alcohol issues, mental health issues and there’s amazing work being done by people. It was the only time I felt I could talk freely without the shame overwhelming me.”

“To be honest with you, I’ve upped my meetings because I’ve got so much going on, I’m 77, and I think I’m 15, so I run like a mad woman. There’s personal responsibilities.

“Also, at my point in life, mortality issues and you start thinking about your lifespan and wondering about how much it’s going to last. There’s just issues that you worry about. I’m a bit of a worry wart!”

The frank admission comes just one day after Lulu, who was previously married to Bee Gees singer Maurice Gibb, made the bombshell claims that her late husband possible

“Someone showed me something and I can’t remember the year he impregnated this girl after a one night stand and he has a son who has had his genes taken. It’s proven. He’s a hundred percent Maurice’s.”
