Freddy Brazier has opened his heart in an emotional confession about grief, growth and becoming a father — as he revealed the name of his unborn daughter in a touching tribute to his late mum, Jade Goody.
The 21-year-old, who is expecting his first child with girlfriend Holly Swinburn later this month, admitted Mother’s Day has always been the hardest time of year since losing Jade to cervical cancer in 2009.

Freddy said he often watches others celebrate with their mums and thinks, “You’re so lucky… I wish I could have a special day with my mum.” He added that he still wonders what they would do together if she were alive, and where he would take her.
But this year marks a turning point.
“Now, I’ll be able to make new memories with my baby daughter,” he said — a moment that clearly signals a new chapter in his life.
The young dad-to-be revealed he has chosen the name Isla Jade for his baby girl, explaining that including “Jade” as a middle name was deeply meaningful. He said he believes there will always be a part of his mum in his daughter, but didn’t want to put pressure on the baby by giving her Jade as a first name.

In a bold and emotional gesture, Freddy has already had the name tattooed on the back of his neck before his daughter is even born. He admitted the decision was impulsive and painful, joking that it hurt — especially as she hasn’t arrived yet — but said Holly loves it and may even get a matching tattoo.
As the due date approaches, Freddy has found himself visiting his mum’s grave in Essex more frequently. He shared that he still talks to her about everything — from the baby to his emotions — even though it sometimes feels strange.
“I told her what was going on with the baby and how I am feeling… but sometimes I struggle talking to a headstone,” he said, adding that he occasionally laughs at himself for doing it — yet finds comfort in those visits.
Freddy also spoke warmly about his relationship with his dad, Jeff Brazier, revealing they are now in a strong place after past struggles. He described how excited Jeff is to become a grandfather, already preparing a bedroom for the baby and imagining taking her on countryside walks.
“He’s been amazing… bringing me and my brother up alone wasn’t easy,” Freddy said, acknowledging the sacrifices his father made after Jade’s death.

The arrival of the baby has also brought the family closer, with his brother Bobby now living back at home. Freddy said he is looking forward to Bobby becoming an uncle and described the situation as “nice” — a rare moment of stability for the family.
After a turbulent year that saw him split from Holly following a row over partying, Freddy admitted he has matured and is determined to change.
“I’m excited and a bit scared… I am hoping the baby will help me grow,” he confessed, adding that like many young dads, he worries about whether he will be good enough — but is committed to doing his best.
He has already made lifestyle changes, revealing he has stopped smoking cannabis and is focusing on being healthy for his child. Freddy said he has resisted the temptation even when struggling with sleep or overwhelming thoughts, choosing instead to build a routine.
In another surprising move, he revealed he has been living without a phone after breaking it months ago — and has found the digital detox unexpectedly helpful in managing his emotions.
“I’ve had to sit with my discomfort rather than scroll… I don’t miss it,” he said, explaining that it has helped him process his thoughts without distraction.
As he prepares for fatherhood, Freddy admitted he’s becoming more emotional, even breaking down in tears while watching Britain’s Got Talent. He laughed that he is “turning into a big softie” — just in time to welcome his daughter.
From grief to growth, and from heartbreak to hope, Freddy Brazier’s journey is now entering a powerful new chapter — one where the memory of his mum lives on through the name of his child.
